India’s Foreign Ministry has responded to accusations over Russian oil purchases, stating that India has become a target for the US and EU. The ministry called Russian oil imports a “vital national need” and pointed to ongoing trade between the West and Russia. India highlighted that EU-Russia trade in 2024 totaled €67.5 billion in goods and €17.2 billion in services in 2023, far exceeding India’s trade with Russia.
